Shinraiken
Shinraiken moved back to its inner city location and resumed business two years after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster. As a long-standing multigenerational establishment, in its 60th year of business the grandfather in charge handed over the reins to the mother and her third son. They were able to achieve their dream of creating a store well-loved by locals, and vowed to never move away from Kamaishi.
The grandfather and former owner of Shinraiken inherited the recipe for the extra spicy offal before improving it slightly in flavor. The Kamaishi Ramen is also made using his original recipe three generations later and is loved by customers of all ages. The lunchtime menu (11:00 – 13:30) is very affordable, offering all ramen, rice dishes and offal sets for \1,000. The Offal Ramen is a Shinraiken original and one of the most popular items on menu.
The extra spicy offal, passed down for generations.
